Triathlon

The three sport competition-triathlon, is considered by many as the king’s discipline of endurance sports. A combination of swimming, cycling and running combined directly together, offers a challenging sport which is far from being boring. Since 1977 triathlon competitions with different distances have been held. In Sydney, the triathlon was added to the Olympic disciplines for the first time.

Besides competing in Olympic distances consisting of, 1500m swimming, 40 km cycling, and 10,000m running, the best athletes compete in the legendary Iron Man competition. The Iron Man competition consisting of unbelievable distances (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling, and a complete marathon distance of 42 km) is in part for normal and top athletes a challenge. But there are athletes that complete the gruelling competition in under eight hours. Competing in the Iron Man contest in Hawaii is the dream of every triathlete. The there hold events such as swimming in the ocean, cycling and running with almost no protection against nature (e.g. sun, rain), are often misjudged. The hard conditions in Hawaii has caused many athletes to give up, because of total exhaustion. All the athlete’s that complete the competition in Hawaii are considered “Winners”, irregardless if they place. Athletes who compete in Hawaii must qualify in qualification matches - Only the best athletes are allowed to compete in Hawaii. The fascination of the triathlon is not only for the competition arena. There are also competitions with different distances for club and non-club members. The non-club athletes compete in an open category which gives them the opportunity to participate and compete in this fascinating sport.

Many are fascinated with the triathlon, but there is also a lot of scepticism. The question often asked is: what is so fascinating about putting three endurance sports together? Others state that the triathlon is a competition for athletes not good enough in a specific sport area. Also, the fact that the triathlon has become a part of the Olympics in Sydney creates mixed emotions. Most prefer to watch a more attractive or less boring sport.

Are Fitness Blogs Boring?

Yet another runner...

Yet another runner...

Take first ten results in Google (phrase “fitness blog”), check these blogs and check who is commenting on them. There is no surprise most of the comments come from other bloggers so they can get some links and traffic for themselves. That is a common practise which everyone studying ProBlogger’s tips came across.  Some of the comments are amateur and have no value for users. “Nice post”, “Great tips” etc. What the hell you can learn from that? Some of comments present some value, but still the real reason for them is to build some traffic or (if do-follow links) linking power for commentator’s blogs.

Many of fitness bloggers are so busy with developing their on-line businesses that they have no time to practise what they preach. So basically they are no experts in fitness, weight management etc. Many of fitness bloggers never hit a gym and whole knowledge they have come just from internet research. There is a few people sharing real knowledge which come from their experience, rest is just copying them. So you can see many of fitness blogs have similar design, similar articles, photos etc. That is why you can see lately some strange photos added to my blog, as I was fed up with placing traditional photos of runners on the raising sun background.

Only few blogs really provide detailed information for their readers. I commit the same sin. The info I share can be found probably somewhere else, some I do not add much value to internet community. I wonder who really reads fitness blogs. Are there other people than fitness bloggers who read fitness blogs? Ok, I have seen some blogs with the real readers who expect blogger to solve their problems. But that is just a few.

Personally I prefer forums, on which at least real dialog exist. Real problems are being solved. Hopefully few people will be upset with my post. I don’t see much sense of blogging for other bloggers only.

And last thing. Most of the fitness blogs are extremely boring. With HeadbuttTheFat on the top of the list. Is there any chance to write with amusing style about fitness?

Re-shape Your Alien Body

Know this guy?

Know this guy?

Okay, so everyone knows how the Alien looks like. If not, that only mean you have never seen science-fiction movie, or worse, you are not ready for invasion day. This is a fitness blog, but today I will teach how to recognize alien. There are 3 types of aliens: the one with the ugly worm-like face, seven legs or hands and tail which can kill you, one “classic alien” with big head, big eyes and small fragile body, and one with big head, fragile body and bigger pumped belly. If you have seen someone who looks like first type  of alien skip reading and inform Torchwood Institute as soon as possible If you have seen other two be calm! They are just slim guys who never seen the gym but are quite familiar with beer in pub next corner. If you are one of these guys you probably want to keep reading…

So you are the guy with fragile body but still your belly is big. What you are going to do with you?

1.      Make your stomach flat. Easypeasy. Read about flat exercising here or here or some other staff on the net. It is plenty of tips follow them and go to point 2. Remember that very often if your body is slim but your belly is pumped, the reason for it is your diet. Sparkling water, bear and all fizzy drinks literally are pumping your belly so it looks like a ball.

2.      Put on weight. Okay, just a second ago I’ve told you to lose your ball-stomach, now talking about gaining kilograms. That was first step. Now gain some muscles. Big muscles.

3.      How to build massive muscles? Big weights + 4-5 reps in each set, few sets. Don’t go for 12 reps in 8 sets, you will tone up but you will struggle to build big muscles.

4.      Focus on main exercises: squats, dead lift, shoulder press and bench press. You need to build some large frame first. It hasn’t been given you by a nature so do some build up now.

5.      Go for a high protein diet.

6.      Your weights training to cardio ratio should be with advantage of weights.

7.      Keep adding exercises after some time spent on building big frame for your muscles. Lats. Lats are important!

It’s not a complete list to-do for slim fragile guys. This handful of tips can help you with transformation. As I read some forums posts being small and fragile is a problem for many boys, maybe this post will help a bit.
